These were our notes for the video:
-Herbs and supplement prior to pregnancy:
.Red Raspberry Leaf (in tea or tincture form) – tones the uterus, decreases heavy flow, regulates menstrual cycle, strengthens uterine muscles, tones pelvic floor
.Yarrow plant (in tea or tincture form) – regulates menstruation, helps decrease heavy flow, helps bring forth menstruation if suppressed.
.Probiotics – promotes healthy gut flora
-Herbs and supplements during pregnancy:
. Nettle Leaf (in tea form daily) – strengthen the fetus, increases iron, promotes blood flow, vitamins and nutrients
.Red Raspberry Leaf (in tea form daily) – helps prevent hemorrhaging after birth, uterine health and pelvic floor
.Elderberry (in tea form) – immune boosting. Tincture form if fighting sickness.
.Ginger, Spearmint, Peppermint (tea or tincture) – when fighting nausea.
.Yellow dock, Alfalfa, Dandelion (tea form) – for iron, vitamins and nutrients.
.Probiotics – promotes healthy gut flora.
.Fish oil – for daily DHA
.Flaxseed oil – orally and topically, applied to vaginal opening and perineum (area most prone to tearing) helps with elasticity. I applied this during my pregnancy each day when I got our the shower, but my mom also applied it to me during labor.
.Shea Butter – all over body for stretch mark prevention.
.Superfood – vitamins and nutritients. Contains spirulina, kelp, alfalfa.
Nettle and Dandelion are also know to cleanse the blood – very good.
I began drink a pint to a quart a day of nettle and red raspberry starting around my 2nd trimester through the 3rd trimester.
-Herbs and supplements during Labor:
.Red Raspberry Leaf (tincture form) – promotes more effective contractions.
.Jasmine oil – applied to womb (massaged on womb, body) promotes contractions.
.Blue and Black Cohosh (tincture form) – promotes contractions.
.Nipple stimulation by self or spouse, I used oil (Shea butter) to promotes contractions.
-Herbs and supplements after labor:
.Yarrow (tincture form) – increases circulation, stops hemorrhaging, uterine hemorrhaging.
.Angelica (tincture form) – expels after birth/placenta
.Shepherd’s Purse (tincture form) – stops hemorrhaging.
**Yarrow, Shepherd’s purse, and Angelica NOT to be taken at all throughout pregnancy.
-Herbs and supplements while nursing:
.Chamomile – for jaundice
.Fenugreek or Fennel (tincture or tea) – increases milk supply
.Fennel (tea for baby) – helps with gas
.Catnip (tea for baby) – gas and fever
.Red Raspberry (tea or tincture form) – tones the uterus, breastmilk supply.
.Nettle and Dandelion (tea or tincture) – vitamins and nutrients, cleanses blood (which effects breastmilk).
